my reformations of Europe teacher either thinks i'm an idiot or that i don't know any French. well, he wouldn't be too far off about the latter, but today in class he asked me after like every single sentence if i understood what he was saying. and he thinks i know stuff about economics, because every class they tell us to introduce ourselves, name, major, why we're in paris, yadda yadda. so i said i was majoring in economics and now he thinks i know things. gah.
he's super nice, though, and i guess it's better that he's making sure we understand what he's talking about than just going through everything and just making me feel dumb. that and there are only four people in the class and i would feel bad if i dropped it. 15 min oral presentation, 10 page paper, final.
i was thinking about taking the european constitutional courts class because it's taught in english (visiting professor from stanford), but he's already assigned over 100 pages of reading for the first class...who does that? that and i don't know what most everything on the syllabus means. so probably not.
the healthcare class (france/US comparison) is tomorrow morning. midterm, final. 9am tuesdays and fridays, which is pretty rough, but it looks like a lot of people are taking it, so at least i won't be alone.
french painting is also on fridays, but it fulfills a humanities requirement (read: a ton of reading and critical discussion, which i am terrible at. and in french). i talked to the professor and she said that i could audit (go to class, don't do any work, and most importantly: tag along when they go to museums) if the class is small (5 or fewer people). so, i'll show up tomorrow and see who else is there.
