Elitist much?

One of the 309401.394 emails i got today was a job description for a Product Marketing Manager at a startup. i scrolled through it and the requirements caught my eye:

Requirements

- BS or BA from a top university, ranked at or near the top of your class

- 2-3 years experience in consulting, banking, or technology (preferred but not required)

- Obsession with the Internet, start-ups, and social media

- Strong quantitative skills and comfort with technical content

- Outstanding communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal)

- Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint (or Mac equivalents)

- Excellent organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple projects at once

- Bias towards making decisions, taking action, and seeing things through to completion

- Strong ambition, drive, and desire to build a great company

emphasis on the first bullet. Really, buddy? you're just going to put that out there. Hey, if you're not at our opinion of a top university, and not at the top of your class, don't even bother to apply, guys! We throw out all resumes from schools not in the top 25! Oh ho, and if your GPA is under 3.7, don't even think about it!

the company is called metaweb, for all those interested.

in other news, i got a marigold kit from the target dollar spot...and it's SPROUTING!!!

makes me so happy.
